This may seem like a mundane topic for some, but as a former budtender, I know a lot of people come into the dispensary to heal and have no clue where to begin.
Here are some tips to help make your next shopping experience smooth and less overwhelming, while also considering the person helping you.
Before entering your local dispensary, it's always good to have an idea of what you're looking for. This will help your bud-tender guide you to the best products and options for you.
First, let them know the way you would prefer to consume.
Do you want flower? edibles? concentrates? topicals? tinctures? drinks? etc...
Next, let them know how you want to feel.
Are you looking to feel more uplifted? help sleeping? pain management? psychoactive effects, or non-psychoactive effects? or are you looking for anxiety, PTSD, or depression relief?
Let them know exactly how you would like the product to make you feel.
Everyone is different, so no one can ever guarantee the same experience from one person to the next. However, your bud-tender is trained to know the average persons experience with most, if not all, products in the shop.
Usually, if they aren't familiar with a product, they will ask someone more experienced with the product you're looking at to help you,
During this process you will also want to let them know if you're looking for more of a sativa, hybrid, or indica strain. This will also help them to narrow it down for you. If you don't know the difference between those, be sure to ask your bud-tender and they will absolutely explain it to you.
Lastly, let them know what your price-range is for the day, this will also save time and help them show you products that fit that range.
Most bud-tenders are absolutely amazing and they are some of the most valuable people in our industry.
They are truly a channel between the plant and the people and they deserve way more credit than they get.
I truly believe they are the nurses of our industry and the empathy it takes to get their job done is commendable.
If for any reason you don't feel that you're getting the help you need, you can always ask for a manager to help you out.
It's rare to find bud-tenders that aren't passionate about their job, but if by chance you come across someone not as helpful, it's always okay to ask for someone else.
Be kind to your bud-tenders and never forget that you don't know what anyone is ever going through. These people put aside their personal life and problems to help you on a spiritual level, with most people coming into the shop to heal and feel better in one way or another.
Be sure to show gratitude for the person helping you, prepare yourself for what you're looking for to make their lives easier, and always remember, to tip your bud-tender. <3
Much love and thanks to every bud-tender out there changing people's lives one day and person at a time...
I love you all and may you have a blessed week!
